CHRISTCHURCH. Fkiday, April 20. (Before R. Westenra, W. H. Cooper, and H. B. Webb, Esqs., J.P.'s.) Dktjn-enness. —John Wills, charged with being drunk in Oxford terrace yesterday, was fined 6s, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. John Kinley, found drunk in Colombo street, was also fined ss. A first offender, who did' not appear, was fined 10s, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. John Riddell Kerr was also fined 10s.
City By-Laws.—Frederick Charles Dunning was charged with having, on the 26th March, at Christchurch, left a horse and vehicle unattended in Colombo street for more than five minutes. He was fined 10s and costs. James Watts was charged 1 with the same offence, in Oxford terrace, on the 3rd April. Defendant admitted the charge. He was fined 10s and costs.
School Attendance.—The following persons were charged with neglecting to? send their children, to school, and were, fined as follows:—William Cummins 6s, Alice Eden 2s, Percy Turnbull gs, Henry Cross 4s, Henry Sibbie Bs, Annie Rowlands 2s, Christopher Brown 4s, Craig Ford 4s, Henry Bageott 4s, David McKeenon 4s, F. de Rago Bs, William Osborne Bs, Rose Breton 8s James Gutterson 2s, James Lynn Bs, Joseph Teague 4s, Henry Walshe Bs, Nicholas Columbus 4s, and William Barcock 4s. Assault.—Nicholas Columbus and Torentz Newman were charged with having on the 12th April, at Cforistchurch, unlawfully assaulted James Walker. Mr Dougall appeared for the complainant, and Mr Donnelly for the defendants. The case against fxewman was dismissed; Columbus was fined ss; each party was ordered to pay his own costs. r J
