A reputation for smart steaming was established by the Taviuni on her last trip from the South Sea Islands to Wellington. The distance between Suva and Auckland (1140 miles) was traversed in 3 days 22J hours, and from Auckland to Wellington (564 miles) in 44J hours. The latter performance (says tue "Post") beat her previous best record. The propeller of the Westralia having been injured, she is to bo docked at Port Chalmers. Her departure from Lyttelton has,
therefore, been postponed till Wednesday, 25th instant.
