All these creeks aro rich and were worked by parties of miners until the water proved an absolute bur to further mining; but the lower part of the creeks were, for the most part, not worked, owing to the difficulty of coping with the water. When reporting on tho prospects of the Kohinoor Gold Dredging Company's (Limited) property, (the shares of which are now at a premium of. irom 8s to 9s), Mr James Bishop, j M.J.M.'K., says of that Company's claim: —"Tha ground, both river-bed and Redman's Creek flection, is well known as being highly auriferous; but although phenomenal return* are said to have been obtained, the difficulty of keeping the workings clear of water wad such a* to compel their abandonment after a very heavy ouUay of capital." Mr Bishop concludes his roport by saying: "I have every confidence that if a properly constructed dredge is provided for working the ground, splendid results will be obtained." Mr Bishop is the Consulting Engineer of th* present Company. Mr L. Anderson, the Manager of the Totara Dredge, in his report of the present j Company's ground, euys:—"With a strong, up-to-date dredge I consider tho claim a valu- j able one, aud will be a good payable concern all through/ i Report** on the property obtained by the Vendors are attached to the Prospectus.
