PRESENTATIONS.

A large gathering of farmers, townspeople, and others assembled at Grange's Commercial Hotel, Ashburton. on Friday evening, to bid farewell to Mr Isaac Sargeant, who has recently sold his Ashburton Forks Farm, and purchased the Rockwood estate, iv the Albury district. Mr C. J. Harper, Chairman of the County Council, presided. The health of Mr amd Mrs Sargeant and family was toasted, sod Mr Sargeant was presented with a pair of field glasses, and for Mrs Sargeant a silver teapot. The painters of the Addington Workshops on Saturday night, at the Star Hotel, Addington, presented to Mr J. H. Yennor (who has resigned his position in the Railway Department, for the purpose of proceeding to England) with a Kaiapoi travelling rug. -with a silver-mounted greenstone brooch and pendant for Mrs Vennor. Mr Kerr, , the foreman of the Department, roade the presentation. The Rev. H. H. Mat-bias and his wife are leaving Kaiapoi. and on Sunday thf ; choir boys of St. Bartholomew"s Church presented Mrs Matbias with a bicycle bag. On Monday the Reading Union presented Mrs Matbias, as its president, with a coov of "Art in Literature," Mr T. Millar making the presentation in a neat speech. On Friday the Mothers' Union, of which Mrs Maihias was president, gave her a handsome locallymade rajr. with her monogram woven in it, and on Sunday the scholars presented an address, which was read by Mr Brundell.
