SUGGESTIONS FOR LOCAL BODIES.
(PXUtSS ASSOCIATION TEIEGTIAM.) WELLINGTON, April 7: Suggestions and directions respecting the public health for the use of public bodies have been printed and issued by the Government. They recommend a liouse-to-hbuse visitation by an eipcrt inspector, careful examination of water supplies and such places as slaughter-houses, saieyards, butchers' shops, latrine 3, and factories; disinfection daily where necessary, and regular flushing and repair of drains. Particular attention should be given $p localities that have been visited by typhoid. It is suggested by the Central Board of Health that every local board sll6Uld,"where necessary, select an available Bite for a plague hospital to be erected in some suitable locality. The building should ba of such a nature that it could be destroyed by fire when no longer required. Cases of plague reported to the board should ba at once isolated and conveyed to the plague hospital, and the other inmates of the dwelling or premises in which such cases occur should be kept under observation. In the event of death from the plague, it is dedared to be highly desirable that where legally permissible, arrangements should be made for the cremation of bodies.
