SPECIALTIES AND NOVELTIES IN PLANTS OFFERED BY NIMMO & BLAIR DUNEDIN. i ' Himalaya Fairy Grass. ; A hard;/ . Perennial Grass, somewhat resembling the popular Pampas Grass. The ! plumes are of a beautiful old gold colour, and delightfully soft and feathery. The plant is easily grown, and comes into bloom about May. Writing about this novelty, the "Home Garden" for June says:—"The golden ' plumes are, in onr estimation, superior to any other ornamental grass, and would make alovely artificial feather for a lady's hat. We predict a great sale for the plants in the next few years." While the "Australasian" of June 10th, 1899, says:—" The Fairy ' Grass of the Himalayas will become, perhaps, the most popular of all the ornamental 1 species." ; As we predict a large demand for the Fairy Grass, intending purchasers should book ; their orders early to ensure their being fulfilled. Per plant 2s. ' Rudbeckia, "Golden Glow.' A hardy herbaceous plant, with handsome foliage, and flowers resembling a Double Cactus Dahlia. The flowers, which measure to two or three inches in diameter, are of a beautiful shade of yellow, and are borne on stems nine inches to fifteen inches in length. Of much utility for cutting purposes, the fiowers lasting from a week to ten days if placed in water. This fine novelty, which dies down in the autumn, and starts into growth again in the spring is one of the best introductions of recent years, and will give every satisfaction to growers. The finest variety of Genista yet grown, aud entirely distinot from all others The upper petals are clear golden yellow, forming a striking' contrast to the rich velvety brownish scarlet of tha lower petals, and making a brilliant and showy flower. ■ Genista Andreana makes a fine specimen shrub, and toe plants now offered are strong, well grown and fiower bearing. Each Is 6d, per doz 15s. Watsonia O'Brieni. A beautiful pure White Watsonia, the finest and most distinct of this splendid family. The fiowers of this fine Watsonia are snow white in colour, and are regularly arranged on stalks branching off from the main stem, somewhat resembling the Gladiolus. ■ In growth Watsonia O'Brieni is much stronger and taller than the common varieties, the flower stems under favourable circumstances ranging from four to five feet high. For cutting purposes it is indispensable. Each Is, per doz 10s. Double Primrose, " Crimson Velvet." The name suggests the colour of the flower, which ia a rich deep crimson of a velvety textnrc, entirely distinct from all other Primroses. Although not of recent introduction, the Double " Crimson Velvet" Primrose is so scarce that it may well be classed as a novelty. Selected plants Is 6d each, or Is 9d post free.
