ffaanilfcon, of Wellington, has been cbown to represent New Zealand at -the Swimming Cfiampioosbips in Sydpey, -Tbe idea of sending a team of lour was abandoned for waet of funds. The Leithfield Swimming Club held iia annual race meeting on Boxing Day. There was a good attendance, and some interesting eport'was witnessed, lipeulta:—• Maiden Handicap, 50yds—E. Ballinger l t W. Russell 2. Won on the touch. Time 45 3-sth sec, — Inter-Club Handicap, 75yds—G. Pitzpatrick (Chrißtchurch), scr, 1; E. Green (Richmond), 9sec, 2. Won by jt toot, Time, Sg 3-sth aec, 75yds Club Handicap— S. Hilson, scr, X; R, Russell, 13sec, 2. Time, 683ec. Consolation: Hejidjcep, 25yde—C. Schniedtr, 4sec, 1•, C. East, scr, 2. 'rime, 20sec. G. Fitzpatrick was first in the neatest dive competition, end H. Armitage -won the plunge. Mr yf. Hilson was an efficient starter,, and Mr B. Moore, club captain, acted as check starter.
