The prettily staged and tuneful opera. "Rip Van Winkle" was repeated on Saturday night in -the Theatre Royal by tie Operatic Section, of the Natives' Association. There was' a good house, and noticeable improvemeat was apparent in tihe performance. The limelight effects were veil by Mr W. Ward, and Messrs Bickerton Bros, were successful with the pyrotechnic effects,- The opera will be repeated tonight." - " The matinee and evening performances of the Fuller Company, at the. Oddfellows' Hall, on Saturday, drew large audiences. To-night an addition will be made to the Company, Mr Ered; Foley, ventriloquist and - sleight-of-hand entertainer having joined it. A. change of programme will be given. • : The Henry. Dramatic Company gave two entertainments, at Kaiapoi .0:1 Friday and Saturday evenings, which were well attendee. It wan announced that, owing to the late arrival of tho northern dteamer, Mr T. E. Taylor, M.H.K., was unable to be present. A social entertainment, given by the Kaiapoi Cysling Club, was held in the Drill Hall on Thure'iay eveniug. Some of dresses worn, which were supposed to be facsimiles of the fashions of the pioneers, were unique, "while others were on the lines of the latest fi-om fans.
