NAPIER, September 27.

In the Diocesan Synod to-night, the following resolution was passed by the votes of fourteen clergy and nine laity against fiv* clergy and six laity who voted "No": — "That this Synod desire* to call the attention of churchmen to the action of several Biriiops and a- large number of the clergy of New Zealand, who, without committing tbeiaeulves to any policy for future action, h»ve determined to vote, and have recommended their fellow citizens to vote, 'No License,' and in view of the approaching licensing poll, recommends reduction and 'N« license* as the- basis of action for. the present year."
