SOME OF THE NEW MINISTERS.
The Hon. W. J. Lyne, the new Premier, VLv I_t1 _ tb _ l Tasmanian - He was born in 1844, and when twenty years of age he went to Queensland, where he was amongst the Jrf. to » ako up country on the Uulf of Carpentaria. Returning to Tas- '.™.». ania ba was clerk to the Glamorgan Municipal Council till 1875, when he proceeded to New South Wales, and commenced sauattmg pursuits on the river Murray, near Albury. He represents the Hume electorate in the _iew South Wales Legislative Assem,_£k of T? rh _ !,x ,_ lle has been a member since 1880. He held office as Seeretarv for Pubhe Works in the first and third Dibbs's m flle Jennings Government of 1886-87; and was Secret_-*v for Lands in the second Dibbs Ministry. The Hon. John See, Chief Secretary, is * _"_£ , known in political life in New South Wales. He has been for some years a shipowner, a member of the firm of John bee and Go. He is member for Grafton, for which conetituency he has sat since 1880. Mr See was Postmaster-General in the first Dibbs Ministry in 1385, and on the format-on of tho third Dibbs M-XEstry in October, 1891, he was appointed Ooonial Treasurer, and in that capacity carried the Protectionist tariff of 1892. Mr See, who was born at Yelling, in Huntmgdonshire, in 1845, landed -in New South Wales with his pfrents when a boy of eight years old. Mr B. R. Wise, is a lawyer, son of the late Mr Justice Wis* He graduated at Oxford, and wan called to the Bar in England and New South Wales in April, 1883. Mr Wise has contributed a number of articles on Australian subjects to the English magazines, and lias published "Industrial Freedom: A Study in Politics." Mr T. H n Hassall, the new Minister of Lands, is the rep»reseritative of a well-known farming and grazing district, Moree. * Mr Fegan, who has been allotted the portfolio of Mines, wag formerly a supporter of th* Gk>v-rn_n-nt, but, to use his own words, "I never forgave them for the trickery of last session over the Arbitration and Conciliation Act: and another scandalous matter is the way in which tbev have treated the railway employees." He also objected to the payments to Mr Neild, and accordingly votjoi. against Mr Rdd. Mr Fegan was the mover of the amendment censuring the Ministry for the Neild payment. Mr Edward W. O'oullivan has represented Qoeanbeysn for som. years. Mr W. P. Crick is a" lawyer of some celebrity in the New South Wales Parliament.
