GERALDINE.
Tpesdat, September 12. (Before C. A. Wray, Esq., S.M.) Alleged Burulary. — William Oliver was charged with, on August sth. breaking . and entering the premises of the Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative store at' Geialjine, and stealing therefrom, one pair of boote valued at 14s, and one pipe valued at 4s 6d. Robert Young Ferguson, manager of .the Geraldine branch of the Canterbury FarmetV Cooperative, gave evidence that on going. to the store at seven o'clock on the morning of Augugt sth he found the office windows broken and the padlock inside the back door forced open. The safe in the office appeared to hive been tampered with by dynamite and parts of the lock were embedded in the walls ana desk. There was only about £10 in the safe at the time. Al ter he got the safe opened in Timaru they ifound by the stock book that a pair of boots and a pipe (produced in Court) were missing .from the store. Other evidence was heard, and necmed, who reserved his defence, was committed for trial at the next sitting of the Supreme court at Timaru on the 19th inst. No bail was allowed. Civil Case.—C. J. Wreathall vW. S. Maslin, claim £6 5s for 68 sacke of chaff, BO new sacks, cost of two chains of fencing (£1 4s) and refund 'oT interest (£1). Mr Maslin paid £2 Is into Court without prejudice as the amount he admitted to owe for fencing- and the actual cost of cutting the 68. sacks of chaff (which, however, he did not admit owing). After some evidence was heaid, the case was adjourned to allow Mr Maelin'e sou to be present to give evidence.
