PIGEON FLYING.
The Christcburch Homing Society flew off the Oaks, for young hens, from Culverden, on Saturday, June 17th. Fifty-six birds competed, representing twenty lofts. The winner was Mr L. Bardie's Everytame, which flew the distance of 52miles 1409 yds (air line), in lhr 14min. The following are the velocities: —L. Hardies Everytime 1240 yds per minute, D. Buchanan's Peeress 1230 yds, E. Rodjgers's Rosewood 1219.2yd5, F. Butterfield's Blue and White 1219. ljds, E. S. Cliffs Stratford 1217 yds, F. Kingsford's e.s. Perthshire , 1217 yds, jF. Ch*m~ bers's Coal Queen 1210 yds, G. Simpson's Victress 1204 yds, C. Cooper's - Berlinda 1203 yds, F. Bull's St.. Helena 1203 yds, A. Stewart's Armour 1195 yds, F. Robinson's Crocus 1194 yds, G. Ebert's Swoggles 1185 yds, A. Johnsfcoue's No. 69 1173 yds, A. Lawrence's No. 51* 1172 yds, A. Gapes's tan Star 1164 yds, F. Wilson's 1160 yds, G. Pearee's Brooklet 1130 yds. The station master of Culverden liberated the birds.
