Sub-Inspector O'Brien said the police, on investigation, found ,that the charge of theft of the bicycle could hardly be maintained. The boy had taken the machine from the back of a building where it bad been left by the owner, and after riding about town for a while, had handed it to another boy telling him to return it.. The practice of taking bicycles in this way was the cause of numerous complaints. As for the lamp, it had been taken from another bicycle, and was found in the boy's possession. ' He had 'been an inmate of Bnrnham, under the name of Money, but eighteen months ago had absconded, and, taking the name of his mother's second husband, had not been traced until now. He had been before the Court; a few days ago for helping to destroy. a quantity of paint left in a new building. Mrs Hammond' said he was good enough when at home, but got away with other boys and misbehaved himself. The charge respecting te bicycle was withdrawn; he admitted having stolen 'the- lamp, and was ordered to be sent back to Burnham. Failing to Obey an Objqeb.—Malcolm McKinJey, charged with" befng in arrears £37 with his contribution to the support of hie wife, was remanded till June 27th.
