The Rotorua, on her passage from Wellington on Sunday, had to battle against the strong south-west breoze and heavy sea, and did.not reach Lyttelton till after 10 o'clock at night. She sailed for, Nelson via Wellington yesterday alternoon. The Pa>iora arrived from Greymouth yesterday afternoon. The bad weather delayed the departure of the' Canter Dury and Banff shir o; the former soils for London this morning, and the- latter leaves for Wellington this evening. Messrs Field and Ferner yesterday cleared the Clematis, in ballast,'for iiavelock, ' Messrs Pitcaithly, Wallace and Co. yesterday cleared the Kestrel for Wanganui. - Tho Sir Henry was successfully floated yesterday, t • Captain Richardson, of the Waikare, has resumed commands of that, vessel, and Mr-Walker returns to his former position as chief Officer. Mr Brophy, chief officer of the Corinna, is away on siok leave, and Mr Cliff is performing his \ duties. "A well-known:trader to New Zealand, the barque .Lake JSrio, which recently arrived at Adelaide after a ipoesage of ninety-two days 'from New York, is now in charge of Captain Honman, who reports that two days after leaving New' York ,his .vessel was struck, by a' terrific squall, which carried away hear upper and lower topsails and foresail and everything moveable on deck. The forward house was smashed in, and tho cabin was filled with water. She has been chartered to load 'salt for LyttoHon or Xixnaru, thence to United Kingdom or Continent, option South Africa, with grain. 'During her passage out from London, the New Zealand Shipping Company's new steamer Papanui, which has -arrived at Wellington, passed a largo iceberg in lat. 45.30 S., long. 48 E.
