Oa the i_a.-ila.ir_a of the Rev. W. J. Williams the Conference agreed to meet at Pitt street, Auckland, in 1900. The Ber. Mr Wilh'ams read from the Rev. W. Gittos, the report of the Committee on Maori Affairs. It was supplement-d by tbe Rer. T. O. Hammond, and was spoken to among others by the -lev-. H. H. Lawry. On the motion of the Her. Dr. Morley, it was resolved—-"That the Conference expresses its -ympatuy 'with the minister- and other agent- employed in the Maori work, and remits the question of the future arrangements for the more effective working of the mission, and particularly the training of a successor to Mr Dittos in the supervision of the work in the Auckland district to the Home Mission Executive, who shall report fully thereon to the Uistrict Synods and the next Conference." * It was resolved, on the motion of the Rev. Dr. Morley —"That with respect to lay agents or Home missionaries employed in the Maori work, they be only summoned to the Staori Committee or District Synod in the same way as ths Englisn Home H__sio_&ri--are, that is, at the discretion of the chairman; that arraoigeinents be mad© for the lodging and hoard of native; nunisters and agents attending the _xuckla_K_ Maori Committee or .uistrict Synod, at the Three Kings, and, if necessary, an allowance bo made from the Home' Mission Fund to the Three Kings Co_unittee to meet this." On the motion of the Rev. H. H. Lawry, it was further resolved —"That the brethren in charge of the Maori Mission stationa-be directed to seek out suitable persons to be sent up to the Three Kings Native Institution, to be trained for service as Maori evangelists; that the Three Kings executive be instructed to make suitable provision for such students, and especially that our European churches be urged to use special and continued prayer on behalf of our Maori work." The Rev. H. B_H, treasurer of the Plampin Bequest Fund, presented the report and balance sheet, which showed that the sum of £138 10s 3d paid to the general treasurer of the Supernumerary Fund had been returned to the treasurer of the fund. The.total amount received from the bequest, including interest -332 0s Bd, had been £1081 ls 4d. Of this sum £1000 had been invested on freehold security in Wanganui at 4_ per cent; £45 'had been for two needy cases, and £3 lis 6d had gone in incidental expenses, leaving a balance of £32 9s lOd. There was a further sum of £22 10s for interest to be added to this balance, but £40 had since been voted, in two other cases, thus leaving £14 19s lOd to credit of the account. The report _nd balance sheet were considered in committee and adopted. The Rev. H. R. Dewsbury presented the balance sheet of the Supernumerary Fund. It showed the receipt- to have been £1728 6s 6d. Of this amount £974 0s 6d waa circuit contributions; £639 lis contributions from .ministers; £94 17s from arrears; and £20" special contribution. Tne income was transmitted to the treasurer less expenses. The .report was considered in committee, and. upon Conference resuming it was reported to have been adopted. The thanks of the Co-tference were recorded to the Rev. H. R. Dewsbury and Mr T. Buddie, and they were reappointed treasurers. The Rev. C. Griffin presented a further report. on behalf of the Foreign Mission Committee, showing that tha income for the year had been £1065 14s 4_d, a substantial increase over the previous year's total. - The report was adopted. The Secretaries previously appointed were elected a Committee to revise the suggestions submitted by the' Rev. B. Danks, with a .view to their more equitable adjustment. _ The balance-sheet of the Mission, Educational, and General Connexional Trusts showed that the receipts bad amounted to £362 14- lOd. Of this amount £241 lis 6d was contributed to the Wesleyan Home Mission Fund; £50 to the Native House, Hokianga, and the remainder for general expenses. The balance-sheet was referred back to the Committee for correction. The Native Education Txust balance-sheet showed the receipts to have been £833 12a Of this amount £704 4s lld was paid to the Three Kings, £56 Us 7d to Grafton Road, and the~re-t in general expenses. The balance-sheet was adopted. The balance-sheet, of the Wesley College, Threo Kings, gave receipts as £791 ls. The whole amount was expended except £39 13s lOd, which was the balance carried forward. Tlte balance-sheet was adopted. « The balance-sheet of Probert's Trust showed that the receipts had) been £1241 18s lld. The disbursements had been —By real estate accounts, deposits in Savings Bank, £255 17s; Wesleyan Home Mission fund, balance of loan aud interest, £256; Prince Albert College Trustees, students' maintenance a_d trainim?, £326 13s 4d; and general charges. £318 13s 4d; leaving a balance of cash, in hand of £83 15s 3d. The balance-sheet was adopted. The baJance-Ebeet }of the Erosley Theological Endowment Trust was adopted. It showed that the receipts had been £89 14s. The sum of £2514s 2d had gone in expenses, and tho balance of £63 19s lOd to the Treasurer for theological training. The "balance-sheet of the. Theological Institution showed- the receipts to have been £363 9s lOd—£2Bo from Probert's trustees, £63 19s lOd Em-ley trustees, and £19 10s students' repayments. Tbe) -disbursements amounted to £409 15s 2d, of which the larger amount, £280, was for • board, residence and training of students. ' The debit balance was £46 5s 4d. Tho balance-sheet was adopted. The Wellington Native and -Destitute Children's Trust, which was adopted, showed the receipt* to have been £8500 9s 7d, ot which £8040 2s 4d was in hand at the comniencement of the year. The expenditure left a credit bahuice of £8174 ls .9d, -most of which was invested. The Canterbury Home Mission Trust received £75 from interest on investment, and remitted it to tbe Home Mission Treasurer. The balance-sheet of the Kai-Iwi Mission Estate was adopted- It showed receipts £127 155,, and expenditure £118 Ss 4d, leaving a balance of £9 9s Bd. The principal item of expenditure was £90 to the General Treasurer of the Home Mission Fund. ,' . i The of the Grey Institute, Wang-niii District, showed receipts '£279 lis Bd. Of this amount £150 had been paid to tbe General Treasurer of the Home Mission Fund, and there was a loan on" mortgage of £100. Other items of expenditure had been _318 16s Id, leaving a balance in the Bank of £10 5s Bd. The balance-sheet was adopted. At 5 p.m. tbe Co_fer_.ee adjourned until IL3O a.m. to-day.
