■♦■■ CANTERBURY DISTRICT. The annual meeting of the North Canterbury District, 1.0.0.F.,M.U., was held on the Sth inst. Present—Bros. A. H. Paddy, Prov. G.M.; C. F. King, Prov. D.G.M.; Chas. Foster, Prov. C.S., and a large number of delegates. ' A fine was' recorded against the Heart of Oak Lodge, Kaikoura, for not being represented. The Prov. G.M. delivered an address, reviewing what had been accomplished by the society during the past year. The total increase in membership was 158; this includes 80 feinaJe members. The sick experience was shown to be much lighter than.during any previous year, £52143 having been paid for sick pay. Ten.members and eight members' wives died during the year, and £1377 was paid for medical attendance. A vote of sympathy was passed to Bro. C. F. King, Prov. D.G.M., in his sad bereavement. Bro. G. B. Denny, P.G., who is about to visit England, was appointed a delegate to represent this District at the Annual Moveable Committee to be held at Middles-. borough in May next. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Prov. G.M., Bro. C. F. King; D.G.M., Bro. F. J. Caterer; Junior' Auditors and Book Examiners, Bros. C. E. T Hill, F. W. Sandf-rd, C. H. Winny, and E.Kent.. .. It was resolved that the words "a female member of tho Order shall not? be allowed to attend a suchlodge holds its meetings in where the sale of intoxicating liquors is permitted" be inserted at the. end of paragraph 16, General Rule No. 32, after the words "male lodge." A Committee was appointed to revise the. District Rules. It was resolved that the District is of opinion that the questions contained in a letter from the Lyttelton District should be considered conference. A vote of sympathy was passed to Bro. D. Blyth .in bis affliction. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded P.P.G.M. Paddy for the manner in which be carried out ids duties during his term of office. "■* * 1
