THE NEW ZEALAND CRICKET TEAM.
MATCH WITH NORTH TASMANIA. tJ-dt-d Press Association—By ilectrio Telegraph—Copyrignt. LAUNCESTON, February 11 Tlie match between the New Zealand team and North Tasmania was resumed this morning, when the weather avos very bad, and the wicket crumbling. At 82 Upham bowled Savigny with a real trimmer. At 97 Lusk badly missed Palmer in the outfield, but with 6 runs added Palmer was stumped. When the board showed !_!_, Ashbolt and Reese were given a trial with the boll. At the luncneon adjournment the score stood at 144 for two wickets. On resuming Windsor achieved ins century amid cheers, but immediately afterwards lost his partner, Wilson, who was bowled by Upham for 18. When play was resumed shortly after noon, the condition*wero most favourable, there being a pleasant breeze to temper tho sun's hot rays The wicket was in good order, but was inclined towards the end to bo lively. The feature of the Tasmanians* innings was Windsor's fine defence and exhibition of hitting powers all round the wicket. He saw the score earned to 307 before he was disposed of for an invaluable 180, -without which the show of the local team would have been poor indeed. Among the hits Avere twenty-three 4s. Token as a whole the bowling was good, but never at any time Avas there much "devil" in it, and tne Avicket lent no help. The New Zealanders fielded excellently. Lusk bringing off a magnificent one-handed catch in the outfield, thus disposing of Ramsay, a brilliant and dangerous bat, who seemed well set. Boxshall kept Avickets 'well, except in reeard to Windsor, whom he missed three times—one stump and two possible catches. With an hour to play, the visitors set to work to wipe off the deficit of 84, and when tho stumps were drawn for the day. had done so for the loss of one Avicket. Baker and Reese played capital cricket, and the liveliest in tho game so far, putting on the first half century in twenty minutes. This was at Pickett's and Hammond's expense, the effect of the change to Palmer and Wilson being to reduce tho rate of run-getting very materially. At tlie clos© of the day's play the Maorilanders were two runs to the good. Tha local men suffer considerably from the fact that Windsor ricked his shoulder, and cannot bowl. NORTH TAS___ANIA.
