ELLESMERE.
The ordinary meeting of the Ellesmcre Road Board wa%hcld ou Wednesday. All tho members were present. , Mr R. Louden wrote asking for improvements to road leading to fishermen's hub on bank of Rakaia, arid enclosing 10s as contribution to the work. In reference to the circular from tlto Canterbury A. and P. Association, asking the Board's assistance in inducing the farmers "and others to send exhibits to the winter show, it was decided to make the object as public as possible, aud induce farmers to compete. The Board resolved to write to the Selwyn County Council calling attention to the bad state of overflow of water-races on the North Rakaia road, and ask for some improvement to be made so that traffic may not be interfered with. The Treasury Department wrote advising that the sum of £13 4s 6d had been remitted to the credit of the Board on account of work done opposite the new Lceston Courthouse. A circular was received from the Springs Road B<xird covering a copy of a resolution pissed by that body urging the County Council to take steps to secure some uniformity <>f action in the poisoning "of small birds. The Board decided to support the resolution. It was resolved to give public notice tlv.it 10 per cent. Mill be charged on ,-Ul rates not paid before tho 15th mat. Accounts amounting to £46 14s 2d were passed for payment.
