DUN EDI N, February. 4. Mr George Bell, the G-O.M. of the New Zealand Press, died peacefully at 9.30 this morning. :v [The decease of Mr George Bell, the father of the New Zealand Press, will be learned with regret throughout the entire colony. Mr Bell was a man who by his geniality, courtosy, and kinduess of heart, won for hirnw?lf truops of friends. He was a journalist in the truest sen.su ot the word, possessing an extended knowledge of men and things, and a wide experience of the world. The perseverance, industry, and enterprise displayed by him in connection with the Duiiedin "Star,"' aided by the devotion and esprit de corps wliich animated the whole .'of his literary stait, enabled that paper to take a leading position amongst the journals of the colony. Of late years Mr Bell retired from the management of the Dunfedin "Star."]
