AQUATICS.
On Saturday, at Victoria water, tbe Model Yacht Club sailed off two interesting races, each being a sweepstake for first-class boats. A strong breeze was on the water and was . very suitable for sailing. This time both events fell to boats from Lyttelton. Mr Millar's Ivy and Mr -deary's Kai-ora were first and second in both races. The first heat for the commodore's Cap will be sailed on Saturday next. , The half-yearly meeting of the Canterbury Rowing Club was held in - the- boathouse on Friday; the captain, F. J.Cowlishaw, presiding. It was decided to hold a club row to New Brighton on Thursday, leaving the sheds between five and six o'clock. The treasurer, Mr K. WarrejjFisher having been transferred to Waimate, Mr H. Frost waa temporarily appointed to the position. Two new members were elected. '-.*■'

WELLINGTON, January 23. At the yacht races to-day there were only two entries in the senior yacht race, t_e Maritana and Waitangi. The breeze was too light at the start, and the Maritana gave up. In the handicap race the same two entered, bat the Maritana had a walk oyer. In the junior races there were good entrieg.
