The long trip was due to an accident to h*er machinery combined with the tnick weather in the straits. She lay to in Cloudy Bay to-day for the purpose of eriecting repairs to her machinery. Owing to an accident to tho machinery, on the last trip from Lyttelton, the Rotorua, will not go to Picton and Nelson to-day, the repairs taking longer than was anticipated! She will not sail again until she makes her usual trip south on Saturday night. Very thick foggy weather prevailed in the straits this morning, delaying the incoming steamers. DUNEDIN, January 5.
