The Mayor has given notice of motion for the next meeting of the City Council that considering the state of the Corporation finances, and the necessity for retrenchment, a special committee be appointed to investigate and report on the expenditure connected with all the departments under the control of the Council, with a view to showing where reductions can be made, so that expenditure shall not exceed income.
