FOUL LANGUAGE ON A RACECOURSE.
A meeting of the stewards of the Canterbury Trotting Club was held last evening, to consider the conduct of a spectator at the gathering on Monday who used bad language to Mr Buckland while driving in one. of the races. Both Mr Buckland and the person complained of were in attendance, and after they and witnesses were examined, it was unanimously resolved that, as the language was shown to be of foul description, the user cf it be warned off the course during the pleasure of the Club. Mr Buckland having resented the abuse by the use of his whip, expressed his regret for having done so in the heat of the moment. It was resolved that, while the stewards regret that Mr Buckland took the law into his own hands, under the circumstances of his receiving such strong provocation there was no need to take any action.
