ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
I Mr Allison, the Town Clerk of Sydenham, met with an accident just before noon yesterday. He was riding a bicycle, and at the junction of Lichfield and Colombo streets he was struck by a dray coming in an opposite direction. Mr Allison fortunately threw himself clear of the vehicle, but his bicycle was smashed through the wheel of the dray passing over it. Mr Allison received a severe shaking, but was otherwise unhurt. (Pbess Association Tkuco-u-ks.) AUCKLAND, December 9. At the inquest concerning the death of Wm, Ogle, who died during service in St. Matthew's church, a verdict of death from syncope was returned. INVERCARGILL, December 9. Richard Powell, 15 years, son of the foreman' of the Hokonui railway works, was drowned to-night when bathing in the Wai- i topai, at Gladstone, on the outskirts of the town. He was watching some boys eeling, when he slipped into a deep hole. The body has been recovered. I **«■ '''■'■"'
