CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
The annual statutory meeting of the Charitable Aid Hoard was held yesterdayPresent—Messrs J. T. Smith, Board, Prudhoe, Dobson, Benme, Wallace, B. P. Manhire, and Dunlop. Mr Westenra, the chairman of the Board, boing unable to ba present, through illness, Air Smith was voted to the chair. • Mrs Black and Mr White, the two ne\r members of the Board, were also present, but did not take their seats until the conclusion of the business of the annual meeting. The Chairman's address, read by tne Secretary, reviewed the work of the year, and continued:—The thanks of the Board are due to the retiring members, and I must take leave to specially mention tho long and valuable service of Mr.Johu Hamilton, than whom it would bo difficult to lind a more assiduous and painstaking member of the body. He has served on several committees, and seldom missed a meeting of any ot" them in the wholu course of seven years. I regret to learn that Mr Chalmers has tendered his resignation, which will be a matter for the incomTug Board to consider. Before 1 leave the chair, 1 desire to return cordial thaaks to the Board for tne consistent and loyal support it has always given mc.
