SWIMMING CLUBS.
The annual meeting of the East Christ* church Swimming Club was held last night, Mr E. W. Roper presiding. The report of tho Committee referred in graceful terms to the deatih, of the captain, Mr Wauchop, and recorded the departure of the secretary, Mr Brown, for Samoa. There was a creditbalance of £4 6s lid, as against 3s lOd last year. The thanks of the _lub were due fori donations to the prize fund, to Messrs E. W* Roper,. A. Loughrey, F. Gerard, G-. "B. Ritchie, and Recce and Sons. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Several new members were elected, and-the election) of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr E. j'W. Roper; vice-presidents, Dr, Orchard, and Messrs W. W. Collins, A. Loughrey, M. Sandstein, G. B. Ritchie, F.. I Gerard, G. Hart, W. H. Cooper, W. J* ICresswell, W. Cuthbert, 0. H. Prewe, W. Recce, and R. Sfcruthers; oaf* tain, Mr F. Truscott, who nominated Ml G. Ormandy as sub-captain; hon. secretary, Mr J. Wathew; hon. treasurer, Mr A.-J-. Taylor; committee, Messrs J. Wauohop, H., Truscott, G. Bush, F. Stokes and F. _JeW ton; auditor, Mr A. Donaldson; delegates to N.Z. Swimming Association, Messrs A.. J_. Taylor, G. Busnand F. Truscoj.t; dole*, gate to the Sports Protection Association, Mr E. J. Wathew. The incoming Committe were recommended to spend a sum not exceeding £5 in improving the water supply by assisting the School Committee in sinking a new well, and to consider the questions of the classification of members, the formation of a ladies' branch, and the holding of a Thursday carnival to suit Thursday members. .
At a Committee meeting of the Sydenham Club on Thursday Mr A. Cole was appointed caretaker. The names of several defaulters were ordered to .be handed in to the Sport* Protection Association.
