FUNERALS.
The funeral of Dr. Hacon. who died so suddenly from apoplexy on Tuesday last, took place yesterday afternoon. The body was first taken to St. John's Church, where a short service was conducted by the Revs. A. W. Averill and J. Holland; afterwards the remains were conveyed to the Linwood cemetery, where the Revs. H. C. M. Watson and A. W. Averill read the service by the grave. Among those who attended the funeral were Dr. and Mrs Gossett, Dr. and Mrs Mickle, Dra. Symes, Campbell, Clayton, R. W. Anderson, Stewart, Moorhouse, Orchard, Campbell, Thomas, Irving aud Britton ; Messrs A. R. Barker (Secretary), Jekyll,'J. Connal, and Surierh ndant Smith, representing the St. Johu Amoulance Sojioty; Archdeacon Thorpe and Messrs J. Mather and J. Payling. Mr Chapman, the head warder, represented Sunnyside Asylum, with which the deceased was connected for so many years, and Mr H. Clark (ex-superintendent), who was superintendent in Dr. Hacon's time, was also present. During yesterday and the previous day a number of beautiful wreaths were sent by sympathising friends and public bodies, amongst which were the St. John Ambulance Association, the Canterbury Branch of the British Medical Association, the Sunnyside Asylum ; Dr. Bourn Hogg, of Timaru, who was a fellow-studenfc of Dr. Hacon's; Dr. and Mrs Mickle, the latter being inscribed, " A tribute to a good man, and kind, skilful and honourable physician." The funeral of Mrs S. Clarke took place on Thursday afternoon, and was largely attended. 'The Rev. W. A. Pascoe officiated at tho grave in the Linwood Cemetery. A dumber of beautiful wreaths were sent. The deceased was held in high esteem for hei kindly disposition, and her los 3 will be severely felt by a large circle of friends.
