WATER SUPPLY BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the WaimakaririAshley Water Supply Board was held on Thursday. Present—Messrs Robert Dalziel (chairman), ECorrell. Dalley and Dixon. An application from 0. I. Luxton for tail water for 50 acres for six months and that the charge for same be stated, was granted free of cost for six months, provided Mr Luxton makes certain formal arrangements which are necessary. The offer of Mr McHugh to widen and deepen about three miles' space from Mr Chapman's to junction with Frizell's race, according to engineer's conditions, was accepted. Messrs Beawiok and Harris wrote enquiring when the Board was likely to require the balance of £3000 loan, and forwarding bill of costs in connection with the £2000 already provided. The letter was received. With reference to Mr Saundercock's claim for damage by race, the Board agreed to offer £5 as compensation without prejudice. With regard to the letter of Messrs Johnson and Mills relative to Sloane's claim for £75, and the likelihood of the Board being included as a defendant, it was resolved that they be written to demanding that the action should be proceeded with at once, or else withdrawn, as it was unfair and unjust to tbe Board and the contractor to have the matter hanging over. Messrs Murphy, Coup and Chilton Interviewed the Board relative to the extension of race 3 and the use of tail water. The Board suggested that they should apply to be taSen into the district, and Mr Dixon was appointed to go over the district with them and report. A lengthy interview took place between Mr Thomas and the Board with a view to the settling-np of his accounts in connection with his contracts. It was decided to call for tenders for the proposed new race at the headworks, and also the South Fernside races. After passing accounts to the amount of £510, and attending to a qnantity of routine business the Board adjournsd.
