The engineers of the railway department, by order of the Minister, are engaged in preparing a scheme for the duplication of the line from Dunedin to MosgieL They state that it is possible to very much improve the line and quadruple it* carrying capacity. The City Council has decided to ask the Commissioner of Police to enforce the bylaw forbidding the overcrowding of trams and to prosecute where necessary. Amongst the passengers by the Duke of Devonshire to-day is Mr J .Moore, who comes out by arrangement with the Bishop of Wellington to conduct mission among the seamen of this port.
