THE WELLINGTON LICENSING CASES.
(PBISS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, Auguet 5. The " Post" understands that what may be termed the Checketts-Blyth cases, arising out of the late Sunday trading charges, have been forma , ly settled. After the withdrawal of the charges against Mr Taylor, M.H.R., and Checketts and Armishaw, they through their solicitors claimed damages for malicious prosecution. did not ask for heavy damages, but sufficient to cover the costs and charges they had incurred. This was conceded by Mrs Blyth, and has been accepted by the other side, so that the cases may now be fconsidered closed. Mr Taylor, the "Post" believes, declined to accept any consideration beyond the actual law costs, but besides these Checketts and Armishaw received £10 each.
At a meeting of the Prohibition League last night considerable pleasure was expressed at the satisfactory settlement of the Wellington cases, and a resolution was casaed aaPT******t.i«g Mr Tjutloc
