The discussion on tho subject of the place for holding the Championship Meeting of 1899 resulted in Dunedin being selected. Tha Nelson Club wrote asking whether the Association would allow them to affiliate with tneN.Z.A.A.A., or on the other hand allow their amateurs to compete against amateurs affiliated to_the Association. There were not _ sutficient athletes to form an amateur club in Nelson. The secretary was instructed to advise the Nelson Club to make strong efforts to form a club. An application from the Wanganui Athletic Club for affiliation was granted. Mr L. A. Cuff wrote, stating that the constitution and laws of the Australasian Athletic Union had been forwarded to the Association. It had been decided to postpone the final adoption of the rules till the meeting of delegates at the Australasian sports meeting at Brisbane in 1899, but the Union would provide maohinery to carry on its work until that time: Hβ suggested the appointment of Mr R. Coombs, of Sydney, as president, and Mr Marks, of the same city, as secretary and treasurer. On the motion of Mr Selig, the honorarium to the secretary was fixed at the same rate as .last year ; and on the motion of MrC. H. Williams, the honorarium of the hon. treasurer was also fixed at the same amount as Usb year. Mr E. M. Carr moved the folio wine; resolution :—" That a circular be sent out to the various clubs affiliated to the Association aeking them to summon a special meeting, to consider the questions of whether they were in favour of having cycling events on their programmes. If they were in favour of cycling events being included, were they in favour of having them solely under the control of the N.Z. Cyclists' Alliance, or should the N.Z.A.A. permit affiliated clubs to place events' under the control of the N.Z. .League of Wheelmen on their sports programme should the clubs so desire." He thought that many clubs were languishing because cycling was not included in their programmes, and. that the Association should encourage all kinds of sport which was legitimate. The Chairman pointed out that the Association had provided under rule 14 for tne Permit Committee to decide whether cycle races should be held or not in connection with an amateur meeting. If the Permit Committee did not care to decide it, then the Council'could do so. After some discussion it was resolved that Mr Carr's motion be tfiven notice of. The meeting then adjourned.
