PRESENTATIONS.
Yesterday the staff of the New ZeAland Shipping Company at Lyttelton met at the company's office, to bid good-bye to Mr J. T. Gifford, and to wish him every success in his new venture, he having resigned his position on the company's staff to take over the proprietorship of the Junction Hotel, Halswell. Opportunity was taken to present him with a handsome tea and coflee service, suitably inscribed. Mr A. W. Bennett, in making the presentation spoke in eulogistic terms of the faithful and zealous manner in which Mr Gifford had carried out his duties dining hie lon* term of service, extendingover nearly twenty-two years. „ , , On Wednesday Miss Ryan, who has been connected for some time with Mr treeman's confectionery establishment, was presented by Mr and Mrs Freeman and friends with a purse of sovereigns. On account of ill health Miss Ryan has been compelled to take a short holiday, and left by last right's steamer on a trip North.
