(press association telegrams.) AUCKLAND, July 22. The man who committed suicide at Cat Hill, Birkenhead, on the 19th July, has been identified as Alexander Kelly, a miner from Cabbage Bay. WELLINGTON, Jnly 22. The residence of Mr George Hume, near Martinboiough, was destroyed by fire. Very Utile was saved. The house was insured for £600, and the furniture for £410. DUNEDIN, July 22. Mr Justice Pennefather has reserved his decision on the motion for settlement of the list of contributories of the New Zealand Pine Company. The particular question was whether the name of Mr Walter Guthrie should be settled on the list. Mr Justice Pennefather sustained the appeal of the Otago District of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows against the Registrar of Friendly Societies. WANGANUI, July 22. The Wanganui County Council has accepted the tender of Mr J. A. Leedon, Stratford, for the erection of the Wangehu bridge for £2691. Four other tenders were received. INVERCARGILL, July 22. At the Stipendiary Magistrate's Court to-day Mary Blackmore was fined £20, or in default three months' imprisonment, for keeping a brothel. James Watson, who destroyed one side of his face by shooting, five weeks ago, has been committed to the Seacliff Asylum. Over a million rabbits have been exported from the Bluff this season.
