NOTES AND MEMORANDA.
The first annual concert in connection with iiu Society of Professional Musicians, for vine benefit of its Benevolent and Scholarship Fund, It intended %c be given in the Choral Hall on Thursday, July 21st. The following members mil take part in the progrttit»mq,% viz.: — Mrs Revell, Misses Eithet Atkinson, C. Lingard, Pfuckdr, Rachel Ross, Jetutniei West, Messrs F. M. Wallace, H. Wells, Q. F. Tendall, R. T. Searell, and H. M. Lund. The orchestra or the Musical Union, under Mi Wallace, and a vocal quartette, undei Mr H. Wells, will also assist. Aβ some of the objects of the Society are to befriend musicians in need of help and to give assistance to talented children unable to secure a good musical education, it h> to bo hoped that this appeal will be most liberally responded to by the music loving public oii the occasion. A limited number of unreserved stall seats are offered tc the general public for the orchestral concert of the Musical Union, to be given in the Opera House on Thursday, tor which tickets can be obtained at Messrs Milner (and Thompson's. The programme of the concert, which is mainly orchestral, includes the following items for the orchestra, via.: —Haydn's "Clock" Symphony; Adagio from Concerto in A Major, for clarionet and orchestra; "Overture and Entr'acte" by Mendelssohn to "A Midsummer Night's Dream 1, .; "Entra'acte Sevilluna," from "DonCawardeßazan"; "Liebesliedchen , •nd ballet music from "La Reine de Saba" by Gounod. The vocal items include recitative and aria from "Samson and Delilah" and Schubertte song ''The Linden Treo" by Mra Howie: "A Song of Thanksgiving" and "AUsa Mine" by Mr G. E. March. Mr T. Fitzgerald Faulkner, the organist of St, John's Church, Latimer square, will gWe an organ recital to-night, when he will be assisted by the choir. The offertory will be in aid of the choir fund. There will bo a sacred concert given in Wesley Church, East belt, to-night. In addition to other items, the cantata " The New Jerusalem " will be rendered by the church choir, assisted by friends. The eoloiata are Misses A. Lake and Alice Gray, Messrs H. M. Johnson and S. Bell. Miss Danks will act as organist, Mr J. P. Cliff leader and Mr J. A. Flesher will conduct.
The matron of the Hospital desires to acknowledge receipt of gifts of fruit, fowls, and old linen from Mrs Inwood.
