Monday, June 13. [Before A. Scott and J. Richardson, Esqs., J.P.'s.] Drunkenness. —Two first offenders were each fined 5a and costs. Assault.—Joseph Broame was charged with having, on Jane 12th, at Sydenham, assaulted Thomas Martin so as to cause him bodily harm. Mr Beattie appeared for the accused, who pleaded not guilty. Accused was fined £2, ordered to the doctor's fee of Sa, and bound over in one surety of £20 to keep the peace for six months. (Before R. Beetham, Esq., S.M.) Civn. Cases.—Berry v Stevens, claim £3 9s Id for meat supplied. Mr Hunt appeared for the plaintiff. The defendant pleaded that under a deed of separation he was not responsible for his wife's debts. The deed (produced) did not bear this out, and judgment was given for plaintiff for the amount claimed, with costs.
