HUNTING.
The Ashburton hounds met at Mr T. Brown's Melrose farm on Saturday. There was a good attendance of straight-goers, and a number on wheels. Mr and Mrs Brown, in their usual hospitable manner, entertained the party at lunch and again at afternoon tea. Mr Claridge hunted the hounds on Greyung, the whip was on Pretender, Mr Jones, master, on The Bug;Mr H. McLeaa on his new purchase from Christchurch, Sergeant, who carries him well, Mr Tom Brown on Black Douglas. About fifteea others took parfc.
