THE VOLUNTEERS.

The City Rifles paraded last night under Captain F. Fairbairn. The corps, which mustered forty-two of all ranks, waa inspected by Major Day. After the inspection the usual musketry drill was held.

Steps are being taken to form a mounted rifle corps to replace the defunct Heretaunga cerps. A fair number of men have already promised to join.
