A banquet was held to celebrate the centenary of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys, when four thousand Masons were present. The sum of £184,000 was subscribed towards the funds of the institution. THE NICARAGUA CANAL. Washington, June 12. The Nicaraguan Ship Canal. Company has offered to transfer to America seven hundred thousand shares on the condition that the American Government guarantees the company's bond issue of one hundred million dollars. AUSTRIAN AFFAIRS. Vienna, June 12. The Austrian Delegation has fixed Hungary's share of the Austria-Hun-garian joint expenditure at 37£ per cent on the basis of taxation. THE BEHRING SEA FISHERIES. Ottawa, June 12. Dr. A. Rivier, the Swiss consul at Brussels, has been appointed arbitrator in connection with claims against Russia in regard to the Behring Sea seal fisheries. MR HOOLEY'S BANKRUPTCY. London, June 12. The "St. James's Gazette" states that Mr Hooley paid nearly a million to leeches and blackmailers, and expresses a hope that he will expose them. COMBINATION OF THREAD MANUFACTURERS. An enormous combination of leading thread manufacturers in America and England is being formed, and will be extended so as to include the Belgian and German manufacturers.
