Mr and Mrs Matheson, of Springfield, ware in town yesterday, and left by tfce Penguin last night for the North. Mr H. D. Bell, of Wellington, was a pas* senger by the express for Palmerston South • yesterdayto visit his father, Sir Francis Dillon Bell, who is at ptesent seriously ill. Mr E. 0. Brown, manager of the D.1.0., Christchurch, and Mr Corrigan, manager of the Wellington branch, were passengers by the express for the South yesterday. Mr Dawson, of the Dunedin City Council, is at present in town. The Hon. A. J. Cadman is tp arrive this morning by the Rotomahana from Wellington. Bγ. MacGregor, Inspector of Hospitals and Asylums, is a passenger by the same steamer.
