FIRES.
A fire took place early yesterday morning at the residence of Mr C. Hollis, Dampier'a Bay, Lyttelton. The Fire Brigade turned out promptly, but Mr Hollis had extinguished the flames, which were confined to the back part of the house. Very little damage was done. A fire took place on Saturday in an outhouse near the residence of Mrs W. W. Vallance, near Sefton. The building, and practically the whole of the contents, comprising stores, &c, were destroyed. There was no insurance. A five-roomed house at Ohoka, owned by Mr E. Power, was burned on Saturday night, with its contents. Mr Power was absent in Kaiapoi, and Mrs Power and the children had a narrow escape. The house was insured for £120 and the furniture for £60 in the New Zealand office. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, June 11. A six-roomed house occupied by Mr Kelly, of the Bank of New Zealand, at Cambridge, was burned down. It was owned by Miss Franklin, of Paeroa. The building was insured for £150 in the Union office, and the furniture in the North British office.
