WAIMAKARIRI-ASHLEY WATER SUPPLY BOARD.

At an adjourned meeting of the Board on the Ist instant, the Engineer was instructed to ask Messrs Boyd and Keir, Rangiora, for an estimate for removing the Board's office to Cust. It was resolved that the Secretary write to Messrs Beswick and Harris asking them to make arrangements to lend £2000 to the Board at 4£ per cent, in about 'jj/e week's time when the legal formalities lor striking the rate will have been complied with, and suggesting that the term of loan be terminable with the present £5000 borrowed from the Church Property Trustees, also stating that the Board will communicate later on as to the remaining £1000 should the Board need it. Present—Mr Dickinson (Chairman), Messrs Horrell, Dalley, Dalziel, and Dixon. Messrs Fisher and Cowlishaw wrote in reference to Cooper's Creek rates, advising as there was a doubt about the matter a proportionate allowance should be made to the ratepayers in respect of so much of the period covered by the charge, rather than that the matter be pushed to e.vitemes. Mr McHugh, £150; Fernside races, 5 miles 72 chains, Mr Thomas Powell, £144 18s. It was decided to call for fresh tenders for the Cust-Springbank race, and to inform Messrs McCarthy and Scanlan that they could have the North Eyre race if they reduced their price £20. The Board declined to put the race-water down the storm-water channels in the South Moeraki Downs until such tim% as the Board get an undertaking from the ratepayers concerned that they will undertake the maintenance of the channels. A special meeting was held in conection with the making of a special order in connection with the £3000 loan for Brown's Rock subdivision.
