A meeting of the shareholders in the Kauri Timber Company approved of writing down the capital from £1,200,000 to £990,000. THE NEW GUINEA LAND SYNDICATE. Sir Geo. Turner considers that the Queen's ratification of the New Guinea land grab ordinance ends the matter, and he cannot see what further steps can be taken by the Governments interested to prevent the Syndioate obtaining the land.
