SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

The Tai Tapu School Committee met on Monday, and, by the casting vote of the chairman, preference was given to Mr J. L. Scott as member of the Board of Governors. The Committee did not meet until 7.30 p.m., and as notifications of the Committee's decision wast required to be sent in not later than 5 p.m., their vote will not affect the result in any way. At the last meeting of the Walthatn School Committee the headmaster reported that the average attendance for the past month had been 438, the roll number being 494. Miss Teenie Davis was granted the use of one of the rooms in the school after school hoars to hold classes for instruction in shorthand. Messrs Wraight and Carpenter were appointed visitors for the current month.
