A difficulty has arisen in connection with the proposed appointment of Cplonel Gordon, Commandant of the South Australian Defence forces, who is now visiting England as Military Adviser to the New South Wales Government and Inspector of Warliko Stores foe the Australasian Colonies. The Queensland Government favours Lieutenant-Colonel Baker, who was temporarily appointed upon the death of Lieutenant-Colonel Harman, the late Inspector, continuing to hold office. New Zealand supports the appointment; of Major Urquharfc, an official attached to the Woolwioh Arsenal.
