The tug Lyttelton was taken off the patent slip yesterday, after her periodical overhaul.
A start was made yesterday morning with the discharging of the cargo or the Westland. Nothing is definitely decided as yet as to the quantity which will have to be. discharged, bat there seems to be » probability that the greater portion of the cargo will have to be re-stowed before the vessel is allowed to leave the port. The leakage of cocoanut oil and tallow has been very considerable, and much work will have to be done before the hold, will again be ship shape." The Waikare arrived from Sydney, via Auckland and way ports, yesterday morning, and sailed for Melbourne, via Hobart and way ports, in the afternoon. The" W'akatu sailed for Cheviot and Kaikoura last evening. Messrs Kiosey, Barns, and Co., agents for Huddarfc, Parker, and Co., have received advice that Mr W. T. Appletoh has been appointed by the Board to the position of Managing Director of the Company, rendered vacant by the death of the late Mr E. J. Parker.
