Glorious weather and a splendid wicket favoured the first day's play of the return match Englishmen v South Australia. The fast bowling of-Jones played havoc with the Englishmen, and was responsible for their moderate score. Stoddart made his best score of the tour in first-class matches, while Board's innings was a merry one " I'anjit-sinhji sliowi. I elegant cricket. J. lacLiren did not take part in the match. Things looked bad for the Englishmen at the outset, but Hayward and Ranjit .nliji altered the position of affaira, although the run. only came slowly. Jones mi. Ed Stoddart at 4 off his own bowling, and Board had a couple of lives. Darling »ud Lyons were shaping extremely well when stumps' were drawn. The former made t, tremendous hit for five.
