THE SILVERSTREAM MURDER CASE.

(PRESS ASSOCIATION- TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, March 19. Mr Jellicoe has sent a telegram to Lord Ranfurly denying that he applied to the Solicitor-General for a new trial in the Silvei-stream murder case. He states that be only asked permission for the prisoner to appeal on a point of law respecting the admissibility of certain evidence. He begs his Excellency not to sign the warrant till counsel has submitted a statement to him, and states that this course was followed byLord Onslow in the Chemis case, and that commutstion of the sentence followed.
