LINWOOD CLUB,
The eleventh annual meeUiig of th* Linwood Football Club was bald at th« rooms last night and largely atltsudstj, Mr S. Orchard (captain) presided. The animal report and balance-sheet showed that the Club's assets were £100 6s 9d over the liabilities. The receipts were £15412 iB U including £91 Is lOcl members' subscription*! The expenditure was £126 59 lid, leavino a " credit-balance of £28 6s 9d. The member, ship during the year had increased 20 p«j cent., whicli was exceptional. r jpj._ report referred to the training rooms the positions won, aud number o f matches played by the various team? - the annual ball aud smoke concert. On the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr E. M. Carr, tho report and balance, sheet were adopted.
The election of officers resulted as under* —President, Mr A. Loughrey ; vtce-pregj', dents, Messrs R. C. Bishop, G. Payling \f O'Brien, G. H. Wright, K. R. L. Knight J. Irvine, S. H. Vernuzom, J. P. Kelly, Mr» Adam 3, and Dr. Orchard ; Club captain, Mr S. Orchard; hon. secretary, Mr T. '_£ Cowper ; hon. treasurer, «Mr F. O'Brien« committee, Messrs E. M. Carr, H. 0* Stringer, B. Fanniug, J. Macfarlane, and &[ H. Noall; delegates to the Rugby Union' Messrs E. M. Carr, H. (I. Stringer, A. H,' Noall and W. McNamara ; auditors, Messr." H. Barry and E. J. Pegg. The General Committee was empowered to appoint a finance committee, to assist the secretary and treasurer in the matter o* collecting subscriptions.
It was decided to open the season on March 26th. -
Fourteen new members were elected,
The Union Football Club, Dunedin, wrote that two of their teams would visit Christ; church at Easter.
The meeting shortly afterwards olosed.
Among the business to be discussed at thi annual meeting of the Canterbury Rugby Union is a scheme for the insurance of players. Some years ago a similar scheme was advanced, "but the premiums required were too heavy, and the proposal came to nought. The new proposals are understood, to be ou a modified scale.
At the adjourned meeting of the New Brighton Football Club, Mr G. Mclntyre in the ohair, the balance-sheet was adopted, after a lengthy discussion. Several new members were*elected.
The number of teams which the various Clubs in Christchurch are now able to com* raand, makes the ground problem a difficult one for solution. The North Park during the season has nearly every suitable football area occupied, ahd a member of the Linwood Club last night stated that the Domain Board*haß refused to allocate any new grouuds there.
