FORBURY TRAINING NOTES.
[By Telegraph.]
(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
DUNEDIN, March 18. Though the weather this morning was fine the tracks were slushy. Therefore, and also for the further reason that it was an off morning, the work at Forbury was restricted to half pace and cantering exercise, and it would be uninteresting to chronicle the performances in detail. The only note necessary ia that everything engaged is standing up to the work all right. Euroclydon is recognised as a doubtful member, but the geneial impression is he will last one race, and that Goodman will probably be able to start him in the Cup. This he avows himself anxious to do if possible, feeling not sure about the ability of Pitch and Toss, who, though an undoubted stayer, may not be speedy enough for such a task. The local touts *are divided in opinion about St. Paul's chances, some arguing that he is not quite at his best, being rather light. Personally I do. not-think there is much amiss with his condition, but I question his ability to carry lOst 31b on the heavy going that now seems likely, since the weather is persistently showery and the course soaked. Antares is the general fancy, and may perhaps start favourite, unless backers like the look of Euroclydon on the day of the race. Mason tells mc that Gold Medallist is on the way to Duuedin from Hawke's Bay.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) DUNEDIN, March 18. Cutts has arrived with Djin Djin, Culverin, and Falka.
