AMURI TURF CLUB.
The annual gathering of the Amuri Turf Club was held yesterday in fine weather. The attendance was about equal to that of last year. The sum of £652 was passed through the totalisator. Results : — HURDLE RACE, of 18 eovs; second. 2 soys from the stake. One mile and a half. 25. Mr M. F. Ryan's br g Jacko, by Stonewall Jackeon— Uuiy Amber, aged, 9st 71b (D. Hand*) 1 39. Mr D. Rutherford's b g Agent-General, 4 yra, 10at 121b (W.Clarke) 2 16, Ballyhooley 11., 9st 71b (Redfearn), and 2, Ballyhonous lost 61b (inc. 111b over) (A. Thomas) also started.
Ballyhooley 11. cat out the work from Jacko and Agent-General to the fourth fence where he came to grief, and the other two named went on together, Ballyhonous, who was some lengths away, stopping and losing his rider at the fifth fence. Up to the last hurdle Agent-General and Jacko were on terms, but in the run home the latter forged ahead and won easily by a length and a half. Time, 3min 14£ sec. Dividend, £2 19s.

Mr F. Biuch's eh c Prospect, 4 yrs, 7st 31b (Higjrott) 3 Ridden to the front Prospect was live lengths in advance of Social Pest at the end of the first two furlongs, Jewel two lengths farther back. Under pressure the light weight kept his position in front for six furlongs, when he commenced to fall back, and rounding the top turn Social Pest and Jewel were together. Entering the straight Social Pest obtained a slight letd and Jewel was being ridden to keep her place before the distance was reached. Unable to respond, however, Social Pest came on and won comfortably by two lengths and a half, Prospect a bad third. Time, 2min 15sec. Dividend, £3 3s. Shekel, lOst 111b (PuMhain); 2, Greydon, lQst 111b (Jackson); 0, Philosopher. lOst illb (Braxrfngton), also started. Conspirator cut out the work from Golden Legend, Crusader and Greydon coming next. Aa they raced round the tarn for home Golden Legend drew to the front and, having matters all his own way, won by three parts of a length from Crusader, who was three lengths in advance of Conspirator. Jib bolted for six furlongs before the start, and when the flag fell drew out with the lead from Alcestis, Lapidary going on third. At the end of two furlongs Aleestis collared the leader, and was just showing in front of Lapidary at the home turn. The latter was on terms with Alcestis afc the distance, and having the best of tae run to the chair won by the best part of a length; a poor third. Time, lmin 18|sec. Dividend, £3 6s. DISTRICT HANDICAP TROT, of 11 soys; second 1 Boy from the stake. Two miles. 23. Mr J. Little's m g Starlight, 5 yre, 65sec (H. Little) 1 13. Mr R J. WhitUe's srr m Lady May, aged, scr (W. Slim Jim and Starlight were in front at a mile, but the former breaking up badly, lost his place, and Starlight won by six lengths from Ladj May, who trotted in splendid style all the way. Brunette was close behind Lady May. Time, 6min 25sec. Dividend, £3 Is. PAHAU HANDICAP of 25 soys; second 3 soys from the stake. One mile and eight chains. 20. Mr T. Sheehan'e eh m Alcestis, by Master George—Psyche, 3 yre, 7st 121b (Rainbow) 1 44. Mr D. Rutherford's gr m Female Franchise, 5 yrs, 9st 31b .. .. . • (Clarke) 2 37. Mr W. O. Alcestis drew out from the start, and at the end of four furlongs was ruuning clear of Jewel and Female Franchise, who were running side by side just in front of Rangiora and Marlin. Rounding into the straight Female Franchise took second place, but she could not reach Alcestis, who won comfortably by three lengths, Female Franchise a length in advance of Jewel. Jib was quickest on his legs, and at the end of a furlong was leading Lapidary by two lengths, Glynn and-Mona being next in order. Lapidary had drawn closer to the leader rounding the home turn, and was on terras with Jib at the distance. The latter, however, finishing well, gained the verdict by a long neck; Agent General third, five lengths off. Time, lmin 21£eec. Dividend, £3 Ba.
